The Loire Valley Cottage is a stone built original
Cottage built circa 1733, completely refurbished in 2001 in the town of Longue,
Maine & Loire 17kms North of Saumur. This area very famous
for its vineyards, Champigny, Bourgueil, Cotaux du Layon, the
famous white wine d’Aubance and the Celebre 'Veuve Amiot'.
It is also considered as the ‘Garden of France’ for
its wonderful setting. Surrounded by a number of Chateaux, including
Saumur, Loches, Langeais, Chinon and many others you can visit
at your own leisure. Longue also is closed to a Zoo, only one
hour from the Futuroscope, Poitiers, and only 20kms away at the
Fontevreaud Abbaye you can pay a visit to Richard the Lion Heart
tomb.

You
will find nearby and in Longue golf, swimming pool, Restaurants,
Bars, traditional Artisanat and Market, & a very well stocked
Hyper Market Super U which have its ‘Foire aux Vins’.
The Atlantic Coast is only a couple of hours away, the motorway
will take you there direct from Longue.
The cottage is situated 3 minutes walk from the centre of the town,
and your car will be absolutely safe as the front door of the
cottage is situated in a private large patio shared only with one
neighbour. You can now fly direct from Stanstead with Ryanair to Tours
or Poitiers (much cheaper) and be home in your hired car in 50
minutes. The fares are really low and you can now out of season grab
a long weekend or a midweek special at a realistic price. Remember
the Loire Valley is still very moderate climate with rare exceptions

The Ferry Services
Sea France gives good deals on fares. The Channel Tunnel
offers a fast effective route to the Loire Valley especially
now with Toll Motorway you can be in Longue in Hours. Many people
like as we yourself do enjoy the leisurely route of staying on
night on route. Le Havre is very enjoyable and its fish
restaurants are superb. The Saint Malo route is also an
option but it does offer a long sea crossing. When you are in
Loire Valley Cottage you are in a very good central position to
explore that regions and still manage to come back to the cottage
daily: Paris, Mont Saint Michel, Normandy Beaches, St Teresa
of Lisieux as well as the Bayeux Tapestry can all be covered
in a day excursion. Not to be missed is the lovely little village
of with Saint Michael to be seen in the distance. in Cancale, the
superb restaurant is painted blue colour on the outside. It
does not look very touristy on the outside but it is like all good
French Restaurants IT IS ONLY full when they serve good food at decent
prices. It is situated on a corner of the main and only street.
Service is excellent and the food is superb at very modest cost.
Those who are coming from USA or Canada are advised for Paris
Airport and either take the many daily and cheap flights to Tours or
Poitiers Airport and take a car for hire Dollar Avis and Hertz offer
very good rates at these local airports. However you may feel that
you wish to have your car ready at Paris Airport for the journey to
Loire. All linen and towels are provided leaving lots of room in
your baggage for taking the delights of France home. The Loire
Valley is steeped in History and you may wish to take one of the
many cultural tours available in the Summer. Bicycles can be hired
in Saumur about 20 km away or have delivered right to your
door
